Sangria Weather

Productive day.
Work 9:45am - 2:45pm
(1 hour lunch at Ramen Ya)
Changed my U.A.E. Dirhams for Australian dollars
Camera inspected at Micheal's Camera house
Visit Phuong at work
Accidentally discovered where Nga works
Explored Spencer Street for bargains and found none
Took the train to St. Albans to meet up with Vman
Bought some groceries
Went home and made Sangria - perfect for the 28 degree weather
Later cooked some buritos
i craved Ramen Ya since I was overseas. It was difficult to get good asian good in europe, even in Dubai! i missed my Chicken Katsu Don Bento box so I got just that. I love bento boxes and their cute little compartments, everything is so organised. hehe. i had lunch with James and Aaron. they spoke about finance, the economy and foreign currency. I didnt understand most of it due to the jargon and unfamiliar concepts but i did learn a thing or too.
in Dubai i wanted to give my left over dirhams to sheila. it was about 500 dirhams. i told her it wasnt much and that she should take it. sheila and paul insisted that i take it back home and exchange it to dollars. i was reluctant and said it wouldnt be much anyway. today i changed it into dirhams. i didnt search around for the best price like i normally do. i was surprised that the lady offered me $113.40 AUD for my dirhams. she asked me "is that okay?" im like "YEAH!" hahah ignorant me.
i fucked up my camera when i was overseas. i dropped it twice in the British Museum bcoz i was tired and it slipped thru my hands. the flash isnt working at all, viewing pictures is a fraction slower than normal, and it randomly resets to factory settings when you turn it on. its so annoying bcoz i hate the sound of buttons and shutter! i want it fixed, bcoz this camera is meaningful to me - it was my 18th birthday present and the first big thing that i acutally went out and searched for myself. the guy at Micheal's reckons my camera was borderline repairable and beyond economic repair/right-off. WHAT? i dropped it twice, paid $522 for it and its a borderline right-off? these manufacturers do this on purpose - those fuckers. imagine how much waste we would produce if everyone dropped their camera twice..
i love coincidences. i visited phuong at her work. then went next door to the bargain book shop, i love bargain book shops. i thought the girl at the counter looked like Nga. but i wasnt going to call her name out if i wasn't 100% sure bcoz ive been mistaken before , its embarassing. i saw her face from a closer spot and it was her! i havent seen her in ages. it was good to talk to her and keep her company :)
the weather was absolutely BEAUTIFUL. i like taking the train on days like these, i sit on the side with the most sun, and stare out the window. i like the yellow tinge and glaring sun. i take off my sunglasses to feel the warmth on every part of my face. i hate how the train goes into the tunnels bcoz it blocks out my darkness for the next 10 minutes. trains from flinders to sandringham also go through a tunnel.
I don't mind going through the tunnel
because I know there is sunshine on the other side.
on these train rides i get my best ideas. tonight when i get home, i will make Sangria and Buritos for Vman and we can dine on the decking in my backyard in the setting sun. Some groceries I bought at st.albans. the rest i improvised back home. i sourced the Plums and Kumquat from my very own backyard. picking fruit off a tree reminded me of when I was little. it felt good preparing food knowing u got the ingredients from your backyard :)
Reaping the benefits of what you sow
Literally. The sangria was good, but it needed more taste, more fruit flavour. the sangria at the bottom tasted better than the sangria at the top, probably needs to set for longer then. i forced my parents to drink a glass. mum ate the mint in the glass haha, no one eats the mint in the glass. i think she liked it even though she said she didnt want alcohol. she ate everything in the glass.
Mum: I'm going to get DRUNK on this!
Me: You wish
Some Sangria ingredients
The Alchemist
Burritos for two
Bentot Burrito Maker
It's NYE tmrw. its going to be 40 degrees, total fire ban and BEACH WEATHER. me and vman are planning to beat the crowds and go at 10am in the morning. have lunch somewhere then head back home before the peak hour. NYE will be spent without Vman just as Xmas was. I'm going to my friends party in Kings Park. I hope it will be good.
