Day 26 Pouring Tap Beer

Getting paid from 10:30am - 4:30pm
I've been employed by Red Rock which is a company that owns 34 hospitality venues around Australia and 9 within Melbourne Airport. They own
  • Eureka Sky Deck
  • Eureka 89
  • Temperance Bar, Chapel Street
  • Turf Sports Bar, Queens Street
  • Ludlow Formation, Southbank
  • Little Ludlow, coming soon to Melbourne Airport
  • Colonial Tramcar Restaurant
and within Melbourne Airport are
  • PJ O'Briens
  • Hightide Cafe
  • Hightide Express
  • Plonk Wine and Tapas Bar
  • International Newsbar
  • Fly Cafe and Bar
  • Able Baker Charlie
My official title is a Food and Beverage attendant, front of house... which isnt that glamous unless im working within the international gates. That would be so cool. However, they will be shifting us from venue to venue depending on our experience and wherever needs staff. I aim for the international venues...
Today was training, not physical training but boring theory training. How to give good customer service, airport security measures, what to do in case of an emergency, our requirements as airport staff, company history and values, venue concepts and locations.. by the time it came to the important stuff e.g. POS and opening/closing shop procedures i was drained. But we did get paid. We also got free coffee, Fiji Water and Able Baker Charlie pizza. Nice.
This seemed like a good company to work for. The bigger the company the better they look after you. They pay for uniform, training, and everything is a lot more organised. They believe in employee growth, our trainer today aka the HR Manager started off as a Food and Beverage attendant. Thats nice to hear. Perhaps I will like working here.
We ended off the session by pouring our very first beer from tap. I absolutely failed. I was nervous and didnt pull the tap down all the way. He said I needed to flick, not pull but I had the 45 degree angle and distance between glass and tap right.
Took a photo of my car so I could find it in the parking lot

I hung out at Helen's house tonight. I was dying for sheesha except I couldnt do it coz her bro was downstairs. Smoking sheesha in front of her bro was like smoking infront of my own dad. Thats what it felt like anyway and Dave agreed with me on that. We did a kebab run to Flemgington Road. They were apparently the 'best kebabs in melbourne'. They were pretty good i must say, and I dont usually like kebabs with turkish bread. However, I prefer Fun City kebabs, Ballarat Road because they lost their bread :) Dave had a party at Deluxe Bar and Lounge, Mt Alexander Road but all his friends bailed on him.
Just when we thought the night was going no where, I impulsively offered to accompany dave to the party. Except I was in home clothes aka pajamas. helen and dave were helping me find a pair of helen's jeans that I could fit into. She's a lot smaller than me so the first try of Bettino Liano's were a fail. Her Bardot ones did fit it, a tight fit but a fit, i had to shove my undies down since the jeans were so low. I tucked my singlet in as well. I scrapped my adidas hoodie for my Leather jacket and thats how I turned my pj's into clubbing clothes.
We got to Deluxe and were welcomed with a $15 entry fee and ID scan. The place was full of muzzas in proper shirts and girls in pretty dresses. The music of choice was house/trance. Despite my annoyances towards this music genre, I would say the DJs mixing abilities were up to scratch. I like enthusiastic and good looking dj's.
I wasn't drinking tonight because I was driving. Dave bought me a red bull and I sipped on that for the next 45 minutes. I dont feel cool without a drink in my hand, what will i do with my hands if i dont have one?? I stood in a circle with a bunch of dave's friends, they were all girls, i knew none of them. Dave was getting his freak on in the corner and I considered whether or not I should cock block.
Nah.
We left the place about 2am and I drove myself home. My bed was so comfy the red bull did nothing to stop me sleep. Mmmmm off to the fairies I go.
