On The Streets

Hand written signage = lack of authority
There is so much advertising in Philippines. Their street signs, road safety signs, etc are sponsored by Coke, Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Pantene, Pamolive or some other large corporation which means the sign is a massive advertisment and there is a little white space at the bottom so people can hand write things like 'Punta Tay Tay this way' or 'Welcome to Brgy. 21'. They use these advertising signs because its free. They cant afford to buy proper signs. Filippinos probably think these signs brighten up the concrete and bamboo neighbourhood with their colours and beautiful people. Sometimes I see advertisments on people's fences. They use the advertisments as a roof for the verandah. Big corporations taking advantage. Poor people doing what they need to do to survive.
Patch work everything.
